1965 Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible
1-OWNER car til 2020 when I purchased. This car tells stories when you drive her!
Rare combo of 4-Speed Manual transmission, original Red with white canvas top.
1965 was a 1-Year body style which give it its unique lines on this car.
Has its original 289 V-8 motor with PLENTY of power. All original factory options as chosen.
Its not a perfect car but I wanted something I could ENJOY driving, not a garage queen.
EVERYTHING on this car works! Seriously, the ONLY thing i'm aware of that does not work is just this 4th of July wknd I noticed the LH tail light is inop. (both brake lights work fine). It was a late 1980's restoration and looks great for its age. small areas of orange peel/paint imperfections as seen in photos/videos. Fuel gage, radio, heater, speedometer, all lights and gages WORK!
Car starts, stops, and drives BEAUTIFULLY. I have video's (hopefully displayed below, if not, ask me and i'll send separately) and all were taken just today driving into the office. One of them i'm holding a cup of coffee (which i don't recommend in a classic car and i've never done so) but wanted to show you how easy the car drives down the road at 60-65MPH (and has plenty of throttle remaining for speed in 4th gear). Car has lived in Wisconsin its entire life so don't expect some concourse rust-free ,000 car please :) Undercarriage is clean and safe and is not rusting through. Please see photos/videos.
I purchased this car for likely the same reasons you are interested:
1. It fit my whole family comfortably (What good is a fun car you can't fit everyone in).
2. It was a convertible with the option of putting up the soft top (enjoyable for more of the season)
3. Its not a huge boat Cadillac, sporty and plenty of engine for size frame and easy to park & drive.
4. It is a 4 speed. I LOVE driving manual and this car solves that gap.
5. It was DEPENDABLE. This car starts right up and runs cool. No hidden issues!
Our family business buys and sells aircraft for a living so being transparent in a deal is a life and death situation for us when you deal with aviation. I can tell you what you see is what you get with this wonderful car. In fact, I've owned 8 or 9 classic cars and this one will easily be the hardest to sell because it is so reliable and checks all the boxes and will be hard to replace. We are building a new home and between crazy lumber prices and going from a large 3 car garage to 2,  wife says sell :)
