2pc Red Wing Pottery, 1953 ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION CANDLE HOLDER 2311 & TRINKET DISH
Impressed mark on the bottom of the candle holder reads, "Red Wing USA 2311." Embossed mark on the bottom of the angel wing trinket dish reads, "Red Wing Pottery U.S.A."
This beautiful 2 piece set of Red Wing pottery pieces includes a tall and graceful ceramic pottery candle holder and a wavy angel wing trinket dish, both are from their 19653 Anniversary Collection, per online research.
These are very desirable shapes in a popular maroon color called "luster burgundy" over "luster gray."
The candle holder has a tall top section that sits on a square base or pedestal and has a tall flared back, a flared front lip, and a round molded holder inside.
The glossy, deep red or burgundy with gray on the top and front lip drips into the red.
The angel-wing shaped trinket dish has graceful lines with a top surface that has slightly embossed, tactile "feather" lines. It's glazed top and bottom with the glossy "luster burgundy" color.
The colors are richer, warmer and more of a bright burgundy red than photos can show.
The candle holder holds one standard taper candle. No candles are included in this auction.
Candle holder measures 8 1/4" high, 2 1/4" wide and 5" deep from the front of the base to the tip of the flared back section. The base is 2 1/4" square.
The trinket dish measures 7 1/4" wide, 3 3/4" deep, and stands 1" high
Both pieces together weigh 1 pound, 2 ounces before packaging
From the manufacturing process, the candle holder's square base sits flat with only a very, very slight wobble, and the top section appears to lean very slightly to the right.
Both pieces are in very good pre-owned used, vintage condition. There are no cracks or chips. The candle holder has overall crazing and a little wear to the unglazed foot rim. The dish has minor surface wear and a glaze scratch on the bottom. Please see photos. Any other irregularities would be from the manufacturing process.
