    Description

    .
Red Wing Pottery in Minnesota introduced their first dinnerware - a solid color line called Gypsy Trail - in June 1935.  Available in white, dark blue, orange, turquoise & yellow glazes, many people think it was a copy of Homer Laughlin's Fiesta pattern, but Gypsy Trail pre-dated Fiesta by about a year.  Several companies in California also had brightly colored dinnerware at that time.
This Gypsy Trail ribbed teapot shape #236 is in the bright orange glaze outside with a clear/white glaze inside.  It is about 6-1/2 inches tall to the finial on the cover/lid & about 8 inches wide at its widest point from the end of the spout to the outside of the handle.  The top opening is 3-1/4 inches in diameter & the base/foot is almost 3-3/4 inches in diameter.  It has the built-in tea strainer at the spout.  The notch to hold the cover/lid on the teapot is intact.  This Red Wing teapot is in excellent condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - & has its original bright colors.  Ships USPS.
