DESIGNER/COMPANY/LOCATION:
Reveriano & Maria Castillo:
A member of the famous Castillo family of Taxco, Mexico, Reveriano was among the first silversmith apprentices at William Spratling’s workshop, Las Delicias, where he worked from 1934 -1939. After leaving Spratling, he joined Hector Aguilar at his newly founded Taller Borda and then in 1942, moved on to the Los Castillo taller. During his ten years there, Reveriano executed many designs and taught the art of enameling on silver to the likes of Margot de Taxco who is now famous for her enameled pieces. In 1952, he and his wife, Maria, opened their own taller, Reveri, where she was the designer and he, the silversmith. Initially, their Handwrought creations drew on historic styles and then progressed to more modern designs. The Reveri shop had a long, successful run and eventually closed its doors in 1992.

CONDITION:
Excellent
Vintage condition
with minor surface wear considering the age! No issues to report. It has been polished over the decades, but patina is once again forming as seen in the “dotty-looking” areas. If you do polish, use a treated cloth and be careful not to remove the black niello in the recessed areas as you would devalue the piece. Please view all photos to judge for yourself.
