    DESIGNER/COMPANY/LOCATION:
    Espinosa:
Little is known about this skilled Mexican Silversmith. The name is mentioned in Hougart’s book on pages 63 and 242 and the maker is said to be from Taxco, "The Silver Capital of the World.” Though I’ve seen an Eagle 3 Taxco assay mark on a few pieces, most are Pre-eagle which date them to before 1948, the date when the Eagle mark was first instituted. The artist’s work is relatively scarce and the pieces I’ve seen all have a Spanish Colonial, shadowbox cut-out design.
    METAL:
    Sterling Silver
    DETAILS:
~ c.1940s Handwrought Pendant & added Italian Chain
~ Pendant: Figural Ouroboros Snake with a Spanish Colonial, Shadowbox Cut-out Design
~ The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail and is often interpreted as a symbol for eternity or the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The symbol originated in ancient Egypt and the term is derived from Ancient Greek.
    ~ Stamps: Sterling, Espinosa, Mexico
~ Sterling Chain: 18” Box stamped 925 Italy on the purity plate, Spring Ring clasp, Fine condition
    CONDITION:
    Excellent
    Vintage condition
with minor surface metal wear noticeable on very close inspection. Patina is present and I’ve not polished the piece though the previous owner did. Please view all photos to judge for yourself keeping in mind that they’re high def Canon pics which exaggerate any blemishes that may be present.
